Welcome to EOSS-P

The Edmonton Obesity Staging System for Pediatrics (EOSS-P) is an adaptation of the original Edmonton Obesity Staging System (EOSS) for adults. The EOSS addresses the comorbidities that may coexist with obesity and barriers to effective weight management. The EOSS-P considers the patient’s available resources and environmental limitations so that clinicians can have a practical management plan that best suits their patients’ needs.

The EOSS-P was designed to allow clinicians to asses the impact of obesity on children and youth in a more personalized and comprehensive way, moving beyond BMI Class alone. The EOSS-P can be completed during routine clinical assessments or retrieved from historical clinical and social data available to primary care physicians with an established relationship with these patients. Findings from the EOSS-P are meant to be used to help guide discussions around health risk, advise on clinical decision making and establish management plans.
